Endowment Goal: R250 million (14,5 million Euro; 17,000,000 US dollars; 12,3 million British Pounds)

The central endowment fund for the Centre is critical to ensure a permanent home for this science at Wits. Funds are used to support a wide variety of exploration activities, fieldwork, laboratory-based activities and support the general running of the Centre in support of its mission.

Use of the funds are overseen by the Head of the Centre and a Management Committee made up of senior and distinguished academics from both Wits and abroad. Achieving the endowment goal will ensure that the tremendous achievements in this field at Wits over the last 100 years will continue long into the future.  There is likely no other institutional investment in a science where your money can have a greater and longer-term impact, and ensure that the discoveries that help us understand humankind’s journey on the continent of Africa continue to be made.
